In 2007, The University Club Foundation, the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of The University Club of Washington, DC, was the recipient of an extremely generous bequest from the late Richard W. (Dick) Peterson. Dick Peterson was a longtime resident and member of Club, who was known for his love of good conversation, a competitive game of bridge, and most of all, for his generosity of time and spirit with his many friends spanning the globe. It was Mr. Peterson’s desire that in administering the grant that would bear his name, priority would be given to programs which would enhance the lives and educational opportunities of under-served DC youth, the employees of The University Club of Washington, DC, and their children; and to enhance the Clubhouse that he was proud to call his home. The University Club Foundation Peterson Grants are administered annually in Dick Peterson’s name and serve as a tribute to the legacy of friendship and caring for which he will be forever remembered.
